Supervision Across the Continuum

Abstract:  
This course will describe the skills necessary for meaningful supervision. The instructor will provide information about Anderson’s supervisory continuum, specific needs for the variety of constituent groups, and intricacies of the supervisory relationship.

 

Learner Outcomes:

After this course, the participants will be able to
1. locate supervisory resources available on the ASHA website.
2. describe four constituent groups requiring supervision and their supervisory needs.
3. identify the three stages of the supervisory continuum and the appropriate supervisory style for each stage.

5-10 Minutes: Why Supervise?
10-30 Minutes: Knowledge and Skills for Supervision
30-60 Minutes: The Supervisory Relationship
60-70 Minutes: The Supervisory Continuum
70-75 Minutes: Supervision Goals for Constituent Groups
75-85 Minutes: Supervising Support Personnel
85-105 Minutes: Supervising the Graduate Student
105-110 Minutes: Supervising the CF and Peers
110-120 Minutes: Questions/Discussion

 


 

Leann Landreth ClinSciD, CCC-SLP is a speech-language pathologist in the Liberty County School System in Georgia. She is a recent graduate of Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions earning a Doctor of Clinical Science in Speech-Language Pathology. Her research focused on articulation treatment provided via teletherapy. Leann has over 20 years of experience as an SLP, working in both the schools and medical settings. She was an assistant professor at Marshall University, where she had her first experience with supervision.
