GSHA Committees

Members are the lifeblood of GSHA! We value member input and engagement and diversity when building our volunteer base to better serve and represent our community of speech-language pathologists and audiologists. Volunteering on a GSHA committee requires a commitment to the assigned project or activity. We are always seeking new talent to add to our committees. To participate on a GSHA Committee, you must be a member. If you're interested in joining a committee, please contact the committee chair and fill out the form below.

Committee

Description

Communications Committee

develops and distributes communications to members;
takes photographs for use on the website or print publications;
updates the public access website pages

Continuing Education Committee plans and coordinates continuing education workshops throughout the state;
publicizes programs via GSHA web site, magazine, and mailings to the membership
Convention Committee oversees planning and implementation of all activities related to the annual convention, including registration, program activities, membership meetings, exhibits, and social events
Healthcare & Private Practice Committee provides liaison related to matters of community professional concern regarding the practice of Speech-Language Pathology in committee-related settings; assists the membership liaison with local, state, national healthcare, university, and related professional organizations; oversees issues related  to reimbursement for speech­ language pathology in committee-related practice settings.
Higher Education Committee

collaborates with other state and national agencies as well as other committees regarding legislatives issues related to higher education; partners with student representative to lead the student forum and student recognition activities at the convention

Membership Committee develops programs for membership recruitment and retention;
promotes public awareness of speech, language, and hearing disorders and their prevention.
Public Relations Committee develops ways to increase public awareness of communication, swallowing, and hearing disorders and their prevention;
assists consumers who contact the association regarding these disorders;
works in conjunction with the communications committee
Schools Committee provides liaison related to matters of community professional concern regarding the practice of Speech-Language Pathology in committee-related settings; assists the membership in liaison with local, state, and national educational organizations and related professional organizations; oversees issues related to reimbursement for speech-language pathology services in committee-related settings.
Student Affairs Committee student members who serve as liaisons between NSSLHA & GSHA;
works with the membership, convention, and continuing education committees to recruit and retain student membership and to encourage student participation at the convention and other events
