Abstract: This course is designed to provide information on important aspects of Gender Affirming Voice Training. This presentation details the basics of voice evaluations and training for both Voice Feminization and Masculinization. Attendees will learn various techniques, exercises, and tips to help find and maintain one’s authentic voice aligned with their gender. Through interactive demonstrations and discussions, the participants will practice these tasks, techniques, and exercises. The presentation will include a question and answer session, and the speaker will facilitate a group discussion.
Learning Objectives: As a result of this course, participants will be able to:
- explain how to complete a gender affirming voice evaluation.
- explain the three main aspects of gender affirming voice training.
- demonstrate the basic techniques and exercises used in gender affirming voice training.

Oya Topbas, M.S., CCC-SLP (They/She), SLPD Student Oya Topbas is a certified and licensed Speech Pathologist and a voice specialist. She owns her private practice in Buckhead, Atlanta, called Empowered Voices Therapy & Wellness. She also works at a private ENT Clinic. Recently, she began her Speech-Language Pathology Doctorate at Moravian University. She is licensed in multiple states. She identifies as queer and gender-fluid and specializes in providing safe, accessible gender-affirming voice training services to the trans/non-binary community, which is her greatest passion. She also enjoys providing voice and speech therapy services to youth, adults, and geriatric populations. She is humbled and very lucky to be able to serve her Queer and Trans community, where her biggest passion lies, and is looking forward to creating more connections in the future.

This course is offered for 0.2 ASHA CEUs, Intermediate Level in "Culture, Language, and Identity in Education Training, Service Delivery and Practice Management." To earn ASHA CEUs for this course, attendees must complete an assessment of learning at the end of the course (due by Wednesday July 1, 2026). After review by the Georgia Speech Language Hearing Association, learner records are transmitted to ASHA for processing. ASHA posts ASHA CEUs to an individual’s ASHA CE Transcript. Please allow 6-8 weeks for the processing of ASHA CEUs.
